BAIC Gain Great Success in the Egyptian Market with the Export of 4,000th Car

On February 25, BAIC held the loading ceremony of the 4,000th unit and the first batch of X25 bound for Egypt at Shanghai Port, marking the company’s entrance into a new stage in its efforts to deepen operations in Egypt and a concentrated push in the internationalization.

Egypt is the core market of BAIC’s strategic cluster in North Africa. Since the delivery of the first batch of vehicles in August 2014, the company has basically completed the dual-channel terminal network layout of passenger vehicles and mini vehicles, as well as the planning of product mixes. The smooth delivery of the 4,000th unit further consolidated the remarkable status that BAIC vehicles enjoy in a single foreign country.

In a short span of just one year, BAIC started, grew up and achieved a breakthrough in Egypt. Facing pressures such as foreign exchange control, high tariff barriers and cruel price competition, BAIC kept deepening cooperation with its local partners. According to the characteristics of the Egyptian market, the company deepened operations and focused on two key models for sale: the A113/A115 and Wevan. On the one hand, BAIC enhanced product exposure and popularity through brand and product launches such as auto show and media experience tour, as well as online social media communication; while on the other hand, BAIC focused on service-based marketing with local partners. Via compound marketing campaigns such as the “BAIC Customer Care Series” which provided free maintenance for customers and the BAIC customers Club, the company gradually enhanced its brand influence and terminal sales, to help ordinary Egyptian people truly experience the unique charm of BAIC products – convenience, utility and elegance. With the support and cooperation of the company, orders poured in and sales grew steadily within just 18 months, helping the company’s sales in Egypt soar to over 4,000 units amid the export slump of the global auto market.

As the first strategic SUV model launched by BAIC in Egypt, this first batch of X25 exported will further enrich and perfect the company’s product mix and pioneer the globalization of BAIC Group’s mini SUV products.

In the future, BAIC will focus on work such as brand building, terminal network layout and operation capacity improvement, Internet plus marketing innovation, regional service center construction, industrial investment and localized assembly, and implement culture of “Faster, Leaner, Smarter”, in a bid to provide local customers with better products and services, achieve a strategic breakthrough in an accelerated manner and realize the dream of “BAIC globalization”.
