Two BAIC Tailor-made Products Debut at South Africa Festival of Motoring 

The Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was officially opened on September 3, 2018. Leaders of China and African countries gathered in Beijing to jointly plan the roadmap for China-Africa cooperation in the new era. On August 30, BAIC showcased a variety of products in the South Africa Festival of Motoring, and launched a customised Colored interior X25 and right-hand-drive BJ40L for local market. This is the debut of BAIC products in the South Africa market after the first car off-line ceremony of the BAIC South Africa plant on July 24. It not only demonstrates its steadfast determination to take root in the market, but also another move by BAIC to build a model of pragmatic cooperation between China and South Africa. Jiang Zili, Vice president of BAIC Group attended the event and presented the award to the champion of pool competition, a BAIC's named activity.

  Close the Gap 

As the one and only large-scale automobile exhibition platform in South Africa, the festival was held in Kyalami Racing Circuit in Johannesburg. As a race track with professional runway, it enables visitors to know BAIC products, but also participate in the test drive at any time to experience the driving performance.

At the festival, BAIC exhibited three brand products X25, D20 and BJ40L. Among them, the newly released Colored interior X25 and right-hand-drive BJ40L are tailor-made for local consumers. The X25 and D20 have a stylish appearance design and superior controllability. The high-performance and fuel-efficient product features meet the needs of local automobile consumption, becoming BAIC's major brand products in South Africa. The BJ40L demonstrates the strength of BAIC’s “Off-road DNA” with military quality. The tough appearance and excellent off-road performance can maintain good maneuverability in long-term, long-distance and various complicated road conditions, ensuring the safety of people and vehicles and offering comfortable and safe off-road experience for the owner.

In the process of exploiting overseas markets, it is of great importance to make brands truly enter the lives of local people. For this purpose, BAIC held a billiards competition. Billiards is a favorite sport for South Africans. "Bar + Billiards" is the most common life scene in South Africa. Many local billiards lovers were attracted by the game.

Jiang Zili presented the award to the champion of pool competition and delivered a speech. "BAIC is a company that stresses integrity, emotion, strength and innovation,” said Jiang, “we will make unremitting efforts for the common development and economic and trade cooperation between China and South Africa with open attitude and innovative thinking."

  The pool competition is an extra game of Chinese 8-ball South Africa Super League, a model event for the internationalisation of Chinese eight-ball billiards featuring wide distribution and high awards. In the 2018 season, the contest was held in 10 cities in South Africa. After the selection, the winners of each station will receive a high reward - a BAIC X25 car. It is reported that about 500,000 people signed up for the contest in this season, which effectively enhanced BAIC’s brand popularity and appeal among locals.

Known as the “Rainbow Nation”, South Africa is the second largest economy in Africa, the locomotive of industrialisation in Africa and the bridgehead of African economy and culture. It is also one of the key areas for BAIC's overseas development. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Africa, a significant year for China-South Africa relations. On July 24, witnessed by the two heads of state, the first local assembly product of BAIC South Africa plant was successfully launched, and the BAIC South Africa project gained important progress. As the first overseas industrial chain factory of BAIC Group, the project adheres to the market-oriented principle of “marketing first, integration of industry and finance” while building a production base of the whole industry chain, and promotes localized marketing and automobile finance services, as a result, its product popularity and sales have increased steadily. Since the first model was launched in South Africa in April 2017, BAIC has completed the import and operation of 17 sales and service channels in South Africa, and built a spare parts supply center in Johannesburg to support the steady expansion of the sales business in local market. It is expected that by the end of this year, BAIC's sales and service channels in South Africa will be expanded to 27, covering all provinces and core cities there, and the terminal delivery volume will reach 1,000 units, creating a favorable market opportunity for the smooth operation of BAIC South Africa plant and made in South Africa to truly implement the project.
